The Big Gay Men’s Organization of New York City (BGMO NYC) is a not-for-profit organization with the mission of creating social events and group gatherings for gay men that identify as chubs, chasers, or friends of this community in the tristate area while BGMO national is the parent to chapters that exist around the country. We serve to nurture the self-esteem of large size men, empowering them to seek out meaningful and healthy relationships and encourage them to learn how to improve their health and emotional wellness.
Additionally, BGMO NYC are pleased that we can also raise funds for organizations that continue to do great work and through Convergence.NYC we intend to provide support to the national “Big Gay Men’s Organization, the “Queens Pride Lions Club” which is New York States first LGBT Lions Club also in New York City meeting the needs of the disabled and disadvantaged members of our communities.
The Big Gay Men’s Organization is bringing over 500 Big Gay Men and their admirers together in New York city from August 29, 2018 – September 3, 2018.
THEIR WILL BE SEMINARS
PREP seminar – PREP is a breakthrough HIV/AIDS prevention medication. This session their will be an explanation of the various forms of administering the medication as well as what the current research shows and how it can help protect an individual.
BODY Awareness seminar – Awareness of how attractive all types of bodies are to all types potential mates. Allowing participants to realize that their comfort with their own body type and a positive body image can help to build self-esteem and in so doing adding to ones attractiveness to oneself and others.
CPAP/BIPAP seminar – Addressing the health benefits of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) diagnoses and treatment. Board-certified sleep specialists evaluate polysomnography (PSG) results and make treatment recommendations for OSA patients. Also enhancing awareness of equipment maintenance.
SOCIAL FESTIVITIES
The Convergence.NYC Dance Party to take place at the famous New Yorker hotel where; Hillary Clinton gave her concession speech, Mohammed Ali returned to for respite after a crushing boxing match at Madison Square Garden and where the inventor Nikola Tesla lived until 1943.
Convergence Banquet – At the famous Empire State Building there will be a fabulous buffet banquet at the Heartland Brewery & Rotisserie for us Big Men.
A New York Style Pool Party – There will be a uniquely amazing pool party at the only swim up pool in New York City which is located at the Grace hotel and has been features on the travel channel.
THEIR WILL BE EXCURSIONS
5 in one NYC Tour– Classic NYC sights that includes the Staten Island Ferry viewing of the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 Memorial and a city view from the One Observatory followed by gay themed points of interest including Stonewall bar and Stonewall Park along with Christopher Street,
Museum of sex – The Museum’s permanent collection of over 20,000 artifacts is comprised of works of art, photography, clothing and costumes, technological inventions and historical ephemera. Additionally, the museum houses both a research library as well as an extensive multimedia library.
New York City Hall – A welcome to NYC extended by NYC Council Member Danny Dromm who will also speak of the growth of LGBT leadership in NYC and how it led to the NYC Council LGBT Caucus which have served to enhance the quality of life for the NYC LGBT community.
The Red Steps at Duffy Square – Where attendees will get to absorb the flavor of the NYC Broadway festivities. Then with great joy and pride participate in a flash mob of hundreds of festive Big Gay Men two stepping down the great TKTS Red Steps.
