John Remp, an indie artist better known as Send Me Giants, draws inspiration for his Midwest emo sound from his home base in Chicago. Originally from Nashville, TN, Remp was drawn to music from a young age and first picked up a guitar at 14.
After two years of learning, he began songwriting and performing live at 16 and hasn’t stopped since. With new music on the horizon, Send Me Giants looks to further connect with his audience through his confessional, relatable lyrics harmonically blended with his Midwestern Emo Rock sound.
Who inspired you to make music?
My cousins Alex and Joe-They have been playing the guitar for as long as I can remember. I wanted to be just like them when I grew up!
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
Tiny Moving Parts 100%!
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
I would describe my music as pop-punk with a twist of typical emo music and the vibes of midwest emo.
Are you finding the isolation of the pandemic conducive to your writing or is it hindering the experiences you can write about?
Not really, I write about being alone mostly. Or how it feels to be alone.
Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?
I’m from Nashville, and I’ve performed at some incredible venues there. My favorite was a place called Muse, now a domino’s pizza. My least favorite venue, I wouldn’t say any of the Nashville venues were my least favorite but the ones that did the least for me were at a venue called Loudhouse coffee. They gave me my first shows so I have to give them big props, the owner was such a nice guy but the place didn’t draw because it was too far out of the way (about 25-minute drive from Nashville) I don’t have any upcoming shows but I’m planning them for sure!
What is one message you would give to your fans?
Be kind, find happiness within yourself, and don’t sweat the small stuff.
What historical Figure would you love to see in 21st-century life?
Bring on FDR baby!!!!
Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
Michael Cera or Lip from Shameless
Which fictional character do you wish was real?
Easily, Frodo Baggins
What’s your favorite board game?
RISK or Stratego
If you were talking to a younger version of yourself, what advice would you give yourself?
To my younger self, and anyone else making music, who cares what other people think, PUSH YOUR MUSIC OUT TO THE WORLD.
“Konstantine by Something Corporate,” by Send Me Giants featuring Yung Drty Dan, picks up where “Chasing New York Skies” leaves off by recounting the heartache of unrequited love. This latest single from the Chicago-based artist highlights the lyrical contrast between numbing oneself to forget the pain and reliving the heart-wrenching memories. “Konstantine by Something Corporate” encapsulates how the suffering caused by a one-sided relationship leaves a lingering pain that can only be healed by time.
