Los Angeles-based artist Lou Emery steps into her confident era with her infectious new single “The Moves,” a groove-driven pop-rock track that celebrates the rush of attraction and the thrill of possibility. Fueled by funky basslines, crisp percussion, and Emery’s bold vocals, the song captures that electric moment when glances turn into sparks. “Sometimes, the feeling of having a crush and dissecting every interaction to see if that person likes you back can be the most exhilarating part of a relationship,” says Lou Emery. “This song is about wanting to extend that moment as long as possible. Written by Emery and produced by Alexander Arnaout (Lisa Heller, Holden Miller), the track was mixed by Kyle Henderson, mastered by 3x Latin Grammy-nominated Fili Filizzola, and features drums by Jack Dratch.
To accompany the release, Emery has just dropped a video for “The Moves,” a vibrant, carefree visual that matches the song’s teasing energy and high-spirited fun. The video channels late-night dance-floor vibes with bold colors, magnetic chemistry, and choreography that captures the easy-going confidence of falling into something new. It’s a perfect extension of the song’s energy, playful, inviting, and full of anticipation, offering fans a visual burst of personality that mirrors Emery’s fearless sound.
Raised in St. Joseph, Michigan, Emery grew up in a family of engineers but found her passion onstage. After honing her craft at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, where she studied under mentors like Bee Gees drummer Steve Rucker and Emmy and Grammy-winning composer Carlos Rivera, she began fusing her technical skill with raw emotion. Drawing inspiration from artists like Paramore, Sammy Rae & The Friends, and Olivia Rodrigo, Emery’s sound bridges pop sheen with rock’s edge. Her previous singles “Roots” and “Fools” earned praise from Illustrate Magazine, Ratings Game Music, and Global Money World. With “The Moves,” Lou Emery continues her ascent as one of pop-rock’s most exciting new artists, who is bold, versatile, and unafraid to flirt with vulnerability.
