Growing up in a close-knit family, music was always a central part of Chancy’s life. It played a significant role in her relationship with her brother, who had Lesch Nyhan syndrome. Despite the challenges they faced, music provided a source of comfort and connection for the siblings.
After pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse, Chancy never let go of her passion for music. In fact, she found that music could be a powerful tool for healing and comfort in her nursing role. Now, Chancy is reclaiming her dream of becoming a country singer, proving that it’s never too late to pursue your true calling.

Was there a particular song/performance that made you say “Woah! I know that music is for me and this is what I have to pursue”?
Though there wasn’t a specific song or performance that sparked my passion, I always knew that music was my calling. When I was 12, my dad won my first guitar in a poker game. He brought it home, and from that moment, I began singing more frequently in front of people. It became evident that others thought I had talent. Music became my solace during troubled times in my upbringing, and it continues to bring me peace to this day. I realized that if I could share that sense of solace with others through singing, it was something I’d love to pursue.
You’ve released two new songs this year. What was the inspiration behind these tracks and what do they mean to you?
The first single, ‘A Place to Fall Apart,’ holds significant meaning for me because it speaks to the universal experience of heartbreak. We’ve all encountered moments of heartache and have sought different ways to cope and express our emotions. Some turn to music, like Merle; others to drinking, like Gin; or even to fleeting connections, like a low-rent Romeo. This song reminds us that it’s okay to unravel and find solace away from the pain of heartache when needed. As for the second single, ‘F Country Music,’ it’s inspired by the profound changes in the musical landscape. While I appreciate today’s music, the song reflects on what’s been lost, such as the absence of fiddles and steel guitars, and laments the decline of communal support that once defined our society. It embodies my down-to-earth nature and deep connection to country roots
Any fun stories from the writing/recording process on “A Place To Fall Apart” or “F*** Country Music”?
A definite fun story for me is the whole fact, they even asked me to sing ‘F Country Music.’ The songwriter said you look like someone that doesn’t care to speak her mind. You look like you represent what you believe in. He couldn’t have been more correct. Having been raised by a Vietnam veteran, my daddy taught me to always advocate for what I believe in and I always will.
You’ve had quite a bit of success on TikTok – what does it mean to you to receive support from folks all over the world on your music?
When I started sharing my performance videos on TikTok, I was overwhelmed by the positive comments pouring in from around the world. Through one-minute performances spanning various music genres, I formed my own tight-knit community of followers. Many joined in when I sang alongside my brother, and he delighted in hearing their supportive messages. My aim is simply to spread love and positivity wherever I can.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received during your career thus far?
Following your heart is key. While it’s natural to have dreams, when something resonates with you as deeply as singing does for me, it’s meant to be shared with the world.

Currently, my playlist features Eric Church, Ashley McBryde, and LeAnn Womack, along with Brantley Gilbert, Hardy, and Morgan Wallen.
What’s next for you? Can we expect more new music in the future?
Absolutely! As long as there are listeners, I’ll keep singing my heart out. We’re gearing up for the release of the remaining three songs from our first EP, and then it’s onwards to new projects.

If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?
‘Coalfield Angel’ speaks volumes to me. My mom always encouraged me to rise above our struggles, shaping me into the person I am today.
You are a new addition to a crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
‘Neon’ holds a special place in my heart because my soul was saved in a neon Church. I’m committed to shining as brightly as I can, illuminating the path for those in need
What makes you nostalgic?
Lots of things make me feel nostalgic, especially about where I came from or when I travel there. But mostly, I would have to say my children. They remind me of all the obstacles I have overcome. I think of how I want their childhood to be different than things that I had to endure, but I also want to be as good a mother as my mother was, and still is. I want my children to know I always support their dreams and want to pave that way for them.
If you could ask your future self one question, what would it be?
The question will always be: Did you do all you could do to make a difference? And I really hope my answer will always be yes.
If you could learn any language fluently what would it be?
I find the French language to be incredibly romantic and alluring.
