Americana rocker Sophie Gault ignites a new spark in “Pocket Change,” the second single from her forthcoming album UNHINGED.
Originally penned and recorded by acclaimed songwriter Mando Saenz, the track finds new grit and swagger in Gault’s hands—complete with a special guest appearance from Saenz himself. The fiery reinterpretation is out now on all digital streaming platforms. “I loved this song the second I first heard Mando’s version. The lyrics are great and I love the attitude,” Gault shares. “I tried to give it as much attitude as I could. It was an honor that we got him to sing on it and trade a few lines with me.” That spirit of defiance runs through every note—driven by raw guitars, a pulsing rhythm, and Gault’s sultry, unrestrained delivery. Together, she and Saenz trade verses like two outlaws in conversation, giving the track a playful tension and undeniable chemistry. The result is a smoky, late-night anthem that radiates both reverence and rebellion.
Produced by Alex Torrez (Torrez Music Group) and David Dorn (Braxton Keith, Gabe Lee), and engineered and mixed by Grammy-winner Brandon Bell (Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile, Billy Strings), “Pocket Change” captures the alchemy of two distinctive voices meeting in the middle—Saenz’s poetic storytelling and Gault’s unapologetic edge. The track was mastered by Independent Mastering, rounding out a production that’s equal parts polished and wild.
Due early next year, Gault’s full-length album UNHINGED promises to be a high-octane journey through risk, reinvention, and self-discovery. It’s a record where cowpunk Buck Owens meets punked-up Robert Johnson, weaving through tales of backroom heartbreak, blackjack tables, and midnight rebellion. Across ten electrifying tracks, Gault pairs confessional honesty with fearless experimentation—blurring the lines between Americana, rock, and outlaw country with an unmistakable signature snarl.
A Nashville-based artist with a midnight voice and a mischievous grin, Sophie Gault has cemented herself as one of the most exciting names in the Americana underground. Known for her biting lyricism and unapologetic stage presence, she’s been praised by Rolling Stone, Billboard, Saving Country Music, The Bluegrass Situation, and Holler for her ability to balance grit with grace. Gault’s live shows are equal parts catharsis and celebration, earning her spots alongside Zach Meadows, Sister Hazel, Jason Eady, Gabe Lee, and Margo Cilker, as well as performances at iconic venues like the Bluebird Café.Stream “Pocket Change” now on your favorite platform, follow @Sophie_Gault on Instagram, and visit SophieGault.com for updates, live dates, and the latest on her upcoming album UNHINGED.
